Payment

  • How can I pay for my order?

You can pay for your order on the website by selecting one of our many payment options which are displayed when you proceed through the ‘checkout’ area.

We will attempt to take payment for your order immediately when your order is placed. If we do not receive authorisation for payment by your card issuer within 48 hours of ordering your order will be automatically cancelled.

Available payment methods vary from country to country.

  • Accepted forms of payment

We accept all major credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit and Visa Delta.

Please note that some Solo and Visa Electron cards cannot be used for online transactions. This is not because we don’t accept them, but because some banks don’t allow them to be used online.

We do not store customers’ card details on our server. This means that you will have to enter your card details every time you place an order or if you make a mistake when entering you card details.

  • Privacy Policy & Security - How safe is the store?

The Beatrix Potter Shop is very safe. The site complies with the Data Security Standard set out by the Payment Card Industry and card details are encrypted during transmission from the customer’s PC to the payment gateway. It makes it harder for anyone to “eavesdrop” on your credit card details as they go over the internet to us. This makes someone intercepting the information much, much more unlikely than someone tapping into your telephone conversations.

Please take a moment to read the following information and advice to ensure that your online shopping experience is as safe and secure as possible.

The Beatrix Potter Shop will never email you asking for your account password. We will never ask for your credit/debit card four-digit security PIN under any circumstances.

If you are contacted or receive an unsolicited email which asks you for your password or personal banking information, disregard the request and contact us.

  • Customs & import charges

All import and export charges are the responsibility of the customer. We have no control over the time it will take for your order to clear customs. We recommend you contact the relevant authorities before placing an order.

  • International shoppers - how much will the transaction cost me in my currency?

It is impossible for us to give you an accurate figure, because the exchange rates change every minute. Bank and credit card companies may also add their own charge for currency conversion. We recommend that you ask your credit card company how much they charge for this service.

The Beatrix Potter Shop will charge your credit card in British Pounds Sterling and your credit card company will then convert that amount to your currency.

There are many ‘Currency Converter’ tools on the web, that will give you an idea of how much you will be charged, but they may NOT give you a 100% accurate figure.

  • VAT

The pricing policy of the Beatrix Potter Shop is to offer our products at the same price to all customers, wherever they live in the world.

The tax rules are such that we have to pay VAT on all purchases made within the EC (except for certain tax free areas e.g. Jersey, Andorra etc). So to areas where tax applies, we charge the price displayed and pay the relevant tax to the UK government. So if a figurine was priced at £10, everyone gets charged £10, but we pay the UK government tax on this amount at the prevailing rate.

  • Your statutory rights

If the wrong products are sent to you, simply contact us. Our Customer Services Department will arrange for the return of the incorrect items using our freepost address, and the dispatch of the correct goods.

Your statutory rights are not affected either by ordering from us or by us refunding you.
